Professional equality women / men
The French government has made professional equality between women and men one of its main priorities. This commitment has resulted in the strengthening of legal obligations in this field towards companies.
An index system and its calculation method were published in Decree No. 2019-15 of January 8th 2019, implementing the provisions aimed at eliminating the pay gap between women and men in the company and relating to the fight against sexual violence and gender-based conduct at work.
The proposed index consists of a main indicator to measure existing pay gaps and four complementary indicators (promotions, wage increases, maternity and the top ten highest salaries).
After informing the employee representative bodies, companies must each year publish the result of the Index corresponding to the previous year.
The first Index concerns the 2018 financial year.
